Caribbean Sailboat Elopement in Old San Juan

The first thing I noticed about Ashley and Zach was how warm and open they were. Only having seen them over Zoom, we met for their Old San Juan elopement on a hot and bright Saturday afternoon, and even though the city was busy and full of movement, our time together felt easy.

They were talkative and relaxed, the kind of couple who instantly make you feel like you have known them for years. As we wandered through the colorful streets searching for quiet corners, they stayed flexible and joyful with every step. I loved that about them. It set the tone for the rest of the day, all the way to their Caribbean sailboat elopement.

Elopement Day in Old San Juan

Our celebration began with portraits around Paseo la Princesa, a perfect meeting point to ease into the rhythm of the afternoon. The light was intense, and the city was buzzing, but we found little pockets of calm where the breeze lifted just enough to cool the moment. Ashley and Zach flowed into the session effortlessly, leaning into the beauty of Old San Juan and into each other. Their son was nearby, joining for some moments and sitting out others, already part of the story in the sweetest way.

These early minutes gave me a glimpse of who they are as a couple. They laugh easily, they move at the same pace, and they are wonderfully present with each other. Even though we walked more than planned to escape the midday activity, it felt like a quiet adventure rather than a detour.

Exploring the City for Their Elopement Portraits

Old San Juan is one of my favorite places to begin an elopement day because it gives couples a chance to settle in and breathe. We wandered through cobblestone streets and historic architecture, choosing little pockets of color and calm that felt right for them. The soft, warm tones of the city made every moment feel timeless.

Choosing a Scenic Place to Elope in Puerto Rico

When we began planning their elopement, Ashley and Zach knew they wanted an oceanfront ceremony that felt quiet, breezy, and romantic. They also had a chartered sailboat waiting for them afterward, so their ceremony location had to hold beauty while keeping logistics simple.

The fortín at the east end of El Escambrón was the perfect match. It sits above the Atlantic on a generous lawn with no sand in sight, overlooking waves that crash rhythmically against the rocks below. It is intimate without being hidden and dramatic without being overwhelming. The moment we arrived, I knew it was precisely the place for them.

A Breezy Oceanfront Elopement Ceremony at El Escambrón Beach

Their little boy was the star of the ceremony, running around with the happiest energy. He did so well during the family photos, keeping all of us laughing. We spent time chasing him around and capturing candid moments that I know will matter so much to them in the future. With only their parents present, the ceremony felt like the purest expression of what they wanted from their day. No noise. No protocols. Just family and the ocean.

Celebrating With Their Closest Family

There was something so special about watching their tiny circle come together in such a big, beautiful place. Their son moved between grandparents, his parents, and the grassy space around them in the sweetest way. These were the moments they came here for. Not a long guest list or a structured program. Just their family, the Caribbean breeze, and the freedom to savor the day as it unfolded.

Caribbean Sailboat Elopement Vows at Sunset

From the beginning, we agreed that the sailboat portion would not be a whole photoshoot. Instead, it would be a space for them. A pause from the logistics of traveling with family. A chance to breathe and let the day truly sink in. A moment to say their private vows while the sun lowered itself behind Old San Juan.

As we left the dock and the city softened behind us, the entire mood shifted. The wind was gentle, the water calm, and the sky slowly turning the kind of gold that only a Caribbean sunset can offer. Ashley and Zach settled into a quiet rhythm, wrapped in their own world, exchanging vows in the softest, most intentional way. I captured their moments from a distance, grateful to witness such tenderness without interrupting it. It was one of those scenes that reminds me why I love elopements so deeply.

Ashley and Zach told me they wanted to experience this day with the people who make up their entire world. They wanted to celebrate their son, their parents, and the closeness they have built as a family. This elopement gave them all of that and more. Instead of planning a big event back home, they traveled to Puerto Rico to create new memories together and savor the beauty of a simple, meaningful celebration.

We mapped out their timeline with extra buffers so the day could unfold without pressure. That intentional breathing room allowed them to fully enjoy the portraits, the ceremony, the family moments, and finally, the sail. Watching it all come together felt like watching their vision come to life exactly as they hoped.

10/10 experience with Camille!! Elopement in San Juan, Puerto Rico

We had the absolute best experience working with Camille for our elopement in San Juan, Puerto Rico. From the very first inquiry, she was warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. She made herself readily available for Zoom calls leading up to the wedding, where she listened closely to our vision, offered thoughtful ideas, and helped us shape the perfect plan for our day.

She went above and beyond by sharing several beautiful ceremony location options until we found the perfect one. Her recommendations for the day in general were so helpful and made everything feel effortless. On our wedding day, she blended right in—truly the perfect addition to such an intimate moment. We couldn’t imagine it without her.

Her turnaround time on photos was unbelievably fast, and the images were even more stunning than we could have hoped for.
