Elopement in Puerto Rico: A Beachside Love Story at Hyatt Grand Reserve

No shoes, no guest list, no problem. When Courtney and Jeremy reached out just a few days before their session, I could already tell this elopement photoshoot in Puerto Rico would be something really special.

They had recently gotten their marriage license at city hall back home, choosing simplicity and intimacy for their ceremony. But once they arrived in Puerto Rico for their honeymoon-slash-family-vacation, they knew they wanted something more to mark the moment. Something just for them, and their kids.

A Sunset Session at Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve

We met at golden hour in the column pavillion of the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve in Rio Grande for Courtney's dress reveal and first look with Jeremy and the kids, allowing for some cute and candid moments.

With her veil on, dress flowing, and their kids dressed to match, Courtney and Jeremy shared a first look and a few sweet words before we wandered along the shore.

Then, we walked together barefoot to the beach. It was hazy and warm, one of those tranquil evenings where time feels like it pauses.

Family-Centered Elopement Photography in Puerto Rico

This wasn't just an elopement in Puerto Rico, but a celebration of their journey as a couple and a family. It was all the hugs and giggles, the sandy feet and windblown hair, the wedding portraits they didn't get to have at the courthouse, but still dreamed of. The joy was palpable and the vibes where laid-back.

As I usually do in family and couple portraits, we allowed the kids to come in and out of their session as they wanted, allowing for some tender family moments in between the couple photos.

Capturing Laid-Back Love at the Beach

From the beginning, Courtney shared that she didn't want stiff poses or a strict plan. What she wanted most was to capture the feeling of it all. The love. The laughter. The softness. We moved with ease, chasing light, barefoot and joyful.

I walked away from this session feeling so honored to have documented this beautiful chapter of their love story.

If you're thinking of a beach wedding in Puerto Rico or wondering if it's too late to get photos after eloping, take this as your sign. There is no timeline for documenting love.
