A La Concha Wedding at Indigo on La Noche de San Juan
I first met them at La Concha after their venue tour. We sat in the lobby with coffees and walked through what mattered most for their day. That is when I realized their date landed on La Noche de San Juan, a beloved tradition here in Puerto Rico. I knew the hotel would be buzzing, so we worked on a timeline that let us enjoy the energy without losing the calm we needed for portraits and family moments.
A few months before the wedding, Jessica was on the island teaching water polo clinics. We took that time to review details, talk through their vision, and fine tune the plan. Jessica Steffens is an Olympic medalist and carries herself with the same focus and joy I saw all day long. It set the tone for a celebration that felt intentional and fun from beginning to end.
Getting ready at La Concha
I started with the guys. There was an easy mood in the room, jokes flying, suits pressed, and a beautiful letter that brought real emotion. When I walked into Jessica’s suite, it felt like sunlight. Caridad finished the final touches of hair and makeup, and the color story came together. Bright tropical florals and bridesmaid dresses that looked perfect against the soft neutrals of the hotel.
They chose to meet at the altar, so we kept the anticipation building as we headed down for the ceremony.
Beachfront ceremony and cocktail hour
Their ceremony took place near the ocean with the sound of waves and a warm breeze. I watched their faces and also their people. Big smiles everywhere. After the I do, we moved into group portraits by the altar so everyone could reach cocktail hour quickly. A Caribbean steel drum band set the tone. Even while I worked I caught myself swaying.
Newlywed portraits around La Concha Resort
We walked through La Concha for portraits and kept it candid and light. The architecture, the palms, the ocean, the glow of late afternoon in Condado. We spent a few quiet minutes at the beach before sunset, then returned to cocktail hour to grab a photo from above with all the guests. I love that image. It feels like a joyful time capsule.
Reception at Indigo venue at La Concha Resort
Their reception was at Indigo, one of the wedding venues at La Concha Resort. From the first song the dance floor stayed full. Friends challenged each other to dance offs. Parents who said they would sit and watch were suddenly in the middle of it all. I photographed and danced and photographed again. It was the best kind of blur.
I left with sandy shoes and a full heart. I love when a destination wedding in Puerto Rico feels this connected to place and people. It fit them perfectly.
