Hotel el Convento: LGBT Destination Wedding in Puerto Rico
From the very beginning, I knew Claire and Morgan's lgbt destination wedding would be something special.
There was an intentionality to every conversation we had, a kindness that radiated through every email, every phone call, and eventually, through every moment of their wedding day. It was one of those celebrations where love didn't just sit between the couple; it rippled outwards, gently enveloping everyone around them.
They brought together 80 of their closest loved ones in the heart of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico to celebrate the easiest yes of their lives.
A Romantic Old San Juan LGBT Destination Wedding Day
Their wedding took place on a hot and cloudy April afternoon, beginning with morning preparations across two beautiful hotels in Old San Juan: Palacio Provincial for Morgan and Hotel El Convento for Claire.
They spent time getting ready with their wedding party, dressed in matching pajama sets, sharing laughs and excitement while finishing touches were made.
When it came time for their First Look, we found a quiet corridor on the second floor of El Convento where they could see each other in peace. The moment was electric. Their embrace was one of those where time briefly pauses.
Weather call! Backup Wedding Ceremony at Hotel El Convento
Originally, Claire and Morgan planned to say their vows at the iconic Plazuela de la Rogativa. As many destination weddings in Puerto Rico go, the weather had other plans. A brief shift brought us inside the timeless halls of Hotel El Convento, which turned out to be the perfect cozy and romantic space for their intimate ceremony.
Claire's brother, Jake, officiated with so much warmth and love, making it a deeply personal ceremony. I watched tears well up and hands reach out for one another during the vows, moments that reminded me why I love doing this work.
Afterward, we snuck out into Old San Juan just in time for portraits. The skies held up beautifully as we wandered the cobblestone streets, ducking into colorful corners and pausing by iconic lookout points.
One of my favorite photos from the day was taken at the edge of La Rogativa Plaza, where Morgan and Claire held hands and looked out toward the ocean, the ceremony's backdrop that almost was.
Cocktail hour and reception followed in the lovely Salon Campeche at Hotel El Convento. Their décor was romantic and minimal, neutral and white tones with warm peach accents that felt both elegant and joyful.
Between dinner, dancing, and the most thoughtful speeches, it became clear that this was a room full of people who not only supported but celebrated queer love with their whole hearts.
LGBT Destination Wedding: A Day Rooted in Thoughtfulness
There were numerous small touches that I adored. From the intentional seating with special notes for every guest, to making time for quiet portraits in the midst of a whirlwind day and carving out space for an audio guestbook filled with the voices of their loved ones. Even the vendors felt included, with Claire and Morgan taking the time to check in and thank us personally.
Their destination wedding in Puerto Rico was never just about the views or the venues (though, wow). It was about connection. It's about the ease that comes from being exactly where you're meant to be with the people who've held your hand along the way.
To Claire and Morgan: thank you for letting me witness and document your joy. You are radiant together.
xo,
Cami
