Old San Juan Wedding Photography with Giselle and Brian
A romantic afternoon elopement through Puerto Rico’s most iconic city.
Intimate moments and timeless portraits in Old San Juan
Giselle and Brian’s day was everything I love about Old San Juan wedding photography. Their celebration was calm, meaningful, and full of intention. No large crowd or complicated timeline, just a heartfelt ceremony with their parents, followed by a golden hour walk through the streets of a city where the past and present meet.
With only half a day of photography coverage, we were still able to tell their whole story. From quiet getting-ready moments to the final toast at dinner, their wedding unfolded exactly the way they had imagined.
Wedding day getting ready in Condado Plaza Hotel
We began the afternoon at the Condado Plaza Hotel, where Giselle stepped into her elegant satin gown and finished her look with soft, natural details.
Her bouquet featured white lilies and baby’s breath, and she added a short veil that caught the breeze beautifully. Brian wore a light-toned look from Tommy Bahama that matched the neutral color palette of the day.
It was my first time photographing in the Condado Plaza Hotel in over a decade. Since the day was sunny and beautiful, we ventured outside for a while to capture some outdoor coastal goodness before heading out to the ceremony.
After photographing some details and getting ready portraits, Brian and I left for the ceremony location. We arrived early at El Morro, where we found a quiet stretch overlooking the sea, perfect for the moment they would soon share.
A quiet ceremony at El Morro Fortress, Old San Juan
Although El Morro is one of the most visited San Juan wedding venues, it is still possible to carve out a space for something private. That is the beauty of knowing how to move through the city with intention.
Their ceremony, officiated by Zevio Schnitzer from True to You Weddings, was emotional and straightforward. Only their parents stood by, giving the moment an added sense of intimacy. No decor, no production: just the ocean breeze, their words, and a few tears exchanged as they committed to their next chapter together.
A golden hour stroll through Old San Juan
After the ceremony and a few family portraits on the open lawn, we walked through the city for newlywed portraits. This is where Old San Juan wedding photography shines. The streets themselves become part of the story. Every tile, balcony, and pastel wall adds a layer of character and meaning.
We took our time, pausing for kisses at the corners, leaning against colorful doorways, and soaking in the light that bathed the city at sunset. Giselle and Brian were completely present with each other, and that made all the difference.
Intimate Wedding Reception at Hotel El Convento
We ended the evening with a small dinner at Hotel El Convento, one of my favorite places to get married in Puerto Rico, particularly for couples seeking an elevated celebration. Their reception took place in a private room at Patio del Níspero, where vines drape over the courtyard and the city feels a world away.
It was the perfect ending to a day that never felt rushed. Just joy, ease, and love.
Thinking about getting married in Puerto Rico?
If this story speaks to you, it might be time to stop searching for the perfect venue or timeline and instead focus on how you want your wedding to feel. Whether it is just the two of you or a few loved ones by your side, Old San Juan offers a setting full of charm, culture, and beauty for couples planning something meaningful.
When you are ready, I will be here to guide you through it with warmth, insight, and photos that help you relive it all again and again.
xo,
Cami
