A Puerto Rico Destination Wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre
Allison and Patrick’s wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre was one of those days that reminded me why this venue is such a favorite for destination weddings in Puerto Rico. I have photographed here many times before, but each couple makes the hacienda feel entirely new, and this one was no exception.
First Impressions: A Black-Tie Wedding and Bespoke Stationery
When I arrived, I was immediately struck by the atmosphere they had created. The hacienda itself is rustic and tropical, but Allison and Patrick brought a black tie formality to the day that blended perfectly with the space.
I met them for the first time on their first look session upon their arrival to the Hacienda. The combination of tuxedos and lace gowns against the mountain backdrop made the whole day feel both elegant and relaxed.
Allison, being a designer, had an evident creative vision. She designed their paper goods herself, incorporating fruit illustrations and small details that would later appear in the reception décor. Photographing her stationery flatlays was a real treat, because I could see how those details would connect the whole experience from beginning to end.
Puerto Rico Destination Wedding Ceremony with a Rainforest Backdrop
Their ceremony took place at the iconic arch under the bell tower, one of my favorite corners of Hacienda Siesta Alegre. I had the chance to capture Patrick waiting there with his groomsmen while the guests settled in. Allison’s walk down the aisle was full of anticipation and emotion, and I loved watching Patrick’s face soften as soon as he saw her. Lorraine’s Flowers had dressed the space with romantic arrangements in soft blush and cream tones that framed the moment beautifully without overpowering the view of the rainforest behind them.
Newlywed Portraits Around Hacienda Siesta Alegre
After the ceremony, we walked around the grounds for portraits. This is always one of my favorite parts of the day at Hacienda Siesta Alegre because the property offers us numerous options without requiring us to travel far. Vine-covered arches, cobblestone paths, and views of El Yunque framed every shot. I like to move quickly here, so the couple does not feel like they are missing too much of cocktail hour, but we still get plenty of variety. Allison’s lace train looked incredible against the stonework and greenery.
Reception Details: Tropical Fruit Wedding Décor
For the reception, the courtyard was transformed into a lush setting with long tables adorned with tropical fruits, florals, and candles. It immediately connected back to Allison’s stationery designs, which made the whole event feel very cohesive. Shooting the table details at sunset was especially rewarding because of the way the warm light hit the fruits and glassware.
The evening flowed seamlessly from toasts to first dances, with string lights and chandeliers creating a cozy atmosphere in the open air. I always pay close attention during speeches, and theirs stood out to me. They were full of gratitude, humor, and personal stories that highlighted their bond and the support of their families.
Dancing with Pleneros and a Second Look
Once the formalities were wrapped up, Yuvi Plena brought the energy up with live plena music. The dance floor filled immediately, and the cabezudos added a playful, cultural touch that had everyone laughing and joining in. Allison even changed into a second dress, which allowed her to move more freely, and it really showed in the photos. Those lively moments are among my favorites because they capture the pure joy of the celebration.
From beginning to end, Allison and Patrick’s wedding day at Hacienda Siesta Alegre reflected who they are: elegant, thoughtful, and fun. As a photographer, what stood out to me was how intentionally they wove together design, family, and culture, and how much they trusted me to document it naturally.
During their thank-you speech, Patrick shared how much joy he felt in planning this wedding, as it gave them the excuse to gather everyone they love in one place. Allison added that for them, it was not only about taking the next step in their relationship but also about celebrating every relationship in their lives.
Those words stayed with me. Whenever people ask me what my favorite part of photographing weddings is, I often say it is how they bring people together in a way that does not happen often enough, or ever. This wedding was exactly that. Beyond the beauty of Hacienda Siesta Alegre, the elegant details, and the vibrant party, what made the day unforgettable was the feeling of community and connection that surrounded these gorgeous newlyweds.
