I think one of the most nerve-wracking experiences for a wedding photographer is to be hired by another photographer to capture their wedding. When Iliasis inquired about rates and availability for her wedding with Orlando, we had already been following each other for a while in social media. I had seen her beautiful work and panicked for a minute in excitement to work with a fellow creative, as I know it would be both a challenge and a picture-perfect day!
A Lovely Wedding Day at Villa Montaña Beach Resort, Isabela
As the itinerary of the day looked packed, and Iliasis opted to have a two-camera team for the busiest part of the day. My amazing assistant, friend, and photographer Harold Camilo aided me that day with the coverage during a couple of hours. While Camilo was capturing Orlando’s getting ready, I switched between Iliasis’s and the reception decor.
After documenting Iliasis & Orlando’s preparation, and taking lots of detail shots around the Estate, we moved to the Ceremony area; guests were happily awaiting the big moment on a bright and sunny day. The bride and groom had several cocktail stations which helped everyone cool down, along with amenities like a photobooth, scrapbooks and a cigar roller for the grown-ups.
Ily & Lando’s happy personalities were all out during the Ceremony, and there were equal parts of laughter and tears, making it a very special moment for everyone present. After the I do’s, we moved to the portrait part of the day, doing all the group formals, wedding party pictures, and newlywed photos along the gorgeous beach area of Villa Montaña, while Camilo was capturing all the cocktail hour happiness of the guests.
The reception area was a dream. I loved how the stationery matched the bridesmaid dresses which matched the decor. All in tropical and vibrant hues, perfect for a hot, summer wedding in the Caribbean. Finally, the sun went down, first dances and emotive toasts were followed a yummy buffet dinner. After the dinner, the dancefloor got packed and it basically stood like that for the rest of the night. It was a perfect day. And I’m glad I was there.
Wow! I had been following Camille’s work for a while now and loved her work then, but now that my wedding is over I love her even more! She was so patient with me and took the time to listen to my ideas. Being a photographer myself I thought we might have clashed since we have different styles and ideas, but no she did her thing and allowed me to do my own thing as well. It was the best experience ever! We had a second shooter named Harold who was such a sweetheart and took lots of detail photos for us. He was so kind in showing us a few of the images and omg I’m beyond excited to see the final result! I can’t forget Camilles assistant Luis, thank you!!!! For holding my heels, veil, and just being so nice and attentive with me. Being a bride was harder than I thought, but your team made it so comfortable! Best photographer on the whole island!!! If you are a bride reading this… Don’t wait and hire her now. ?? Xoxo, Mrs. Ochoa
