Wyndham Rio Mar Hotel Micro Wedding: A Laid Back Beach Day Full of Heart

I arrived at the Wyndham Rio Mar Hotel with the ocean already humming in the background and a warm breeze running through the palms. Viri and Justin chose Puerto Rico for their micro wedding to keep things simple, intimate, and close to family. Justin grew up visiting his grandparents on the island, and celebrating here felt like a way to honor those memories. From the first look to the last salsa song at the reception, the day had an easy joy that fit them perfectly.

A First Look in the Wyndham Rio Mar Hotel Gardens

We started with a first look at the pathway by the hotel gardens. I love this pocket of the Wyndham Rio Mar Hotel because it gives us tropical greens and soft light with the resort architecture behind us. Viri tapped Justin on the shoulder, and the tension disappeared the moment he turned. We took a few minutes just for the two of them, then transitioned into solo portraits and a quick round of family photos, allowing everyone to relax before the ceremony.

Beach Wedding in Puerto Rico, Kept Intimate

Their ceremony took place right on the sand with the Atlantic rolling in. The arch was dressed in bright tropical florals that echoed the bridesmaids’ blush gowns and the groom’s linen suit. Vows felt personal, spoken with the kind of tenderness you hear when a couple has already weathered seasons together. Parents and grandparents watched with pride, and I kept thinking how special it was to gather the whole crew here in Rio Grande for something so simple and meaningful.

Right after the ceremony, we stayed on the beach for group portraits, then wandered toward the palms for newlywed photos. The light softened as clouds drifted in, which gave us a clean, creamy glow on skin and details. Viri carried a bouquet of pinks and corals that popped against the neutral tones of the sand and linen. We kept portraits unhurried so they could breathe in the moment before joining cocktail hour on the deck.

A Joyful Reception at Wyndham Rio Mar Hotel

Inside, the reception was warm and unfussy, precisely what they wanted. The cake was trimmed with anthuriums and greenery, a subtle nod to the island that tied everything together. Speeches came with laughter and a few happy tears. Once the music started, the dance floor filled and remained full for the entire night. It felt like a family reunion that just happened to be a wedding.

I am so glad and fortunate to have been trusted with such a loving, intimate celebration. Thank you for the privilege.

Cami
