Castillo San Cristobal and Princesa Gastrobar Destination Wedding
I met Melissa and Jason on their beautiful Caribbean wedding day. It was a marathon of gorgeousness and a challenge to capture, but I loved how Melissa & Jason managed it with their happy and fun disposition.
Getting Ready Photos at Sheraton Old San Juan
My day started at Jason's room, in his suite at the Sheraton Old San Juan. The room was filled with happy groomsmen, helpful and cheery. I captured them helping each other get ready and then I did a couple of portraits of everyone. Afterward, I went up to Melissa's room where a party was going on! Everyone was happy, excited, and ready for the rest of the day.
I love me some black bridesmaid dresses, and I fell in love with the bright and tropical florals they put together: they were the perfect pop of color. After all the emotional moments and portraits, everyone hopped on a bus, and we drove up to Melissa & Jason's first look.
Although as a tourist the historic area of Old San Juan is fully walkable, it has steep incline roads, cobblestone flooring and it would be way too hot for walking in wedding attire. It's recommended, should you have a multiple-location wedding in Old San Juan, to rent transportation services for the wedding party and guests.
First Look and Wedding Ceremony at Castillo San Cristobal
I've never shot a wedding at Castillo San Cristobal before, so I was excited to photograph wedding memories surrounded by those beautiful stone walls. Jason and I were waiting in one of the halls of the site while Melissa walked toward this encounter.
They were just so excited; you could hear Jason from a distance saying: "Wow... wow", in the excitement of how gorgeous Melissa looked. After the emotions had settled, the wedding party joined us for portraits.
The Ceremony finished after sundown in the plaza of the historic site. The decor was simple, accessorized with gold tiffany chairs and candles everywhere, it was magical. Even more special was the beautiful custom ceremony planned for the day, where every member of the wedding party would have a moment so say their blessings and provide advice to the newlyweds. After the first kiss, we hopped on the bus and drove down to Paseo la Princesa for the reception!
Beautiful Al Fresco Wedding Reception at Princesa Cocina y Cultura
The reception was celebrated at the alfresco restaurant Princesa Cocina y Cultura. I had never documented a wedding there before, the ambiance of the venue is so beautiful there's no need to spend too much on decor with their twinkling lights and all. The reception was rather informal, really fun, and with excellent food–perks of getting married in a restaurant! I'm so excited to share with you this picture-perfect event and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
XO,
Cami
