An Adventurous Rainforest Wedding in El Yunque, Puerto Rico

When Valerie first reached out for her rainforest wedding photography, she envisioned an elopement experience that was more than just a quick ceremony.

Planning an Adventure Elopement

Neither Valerie nor Zach had visited Puerto Rico before, so they trusted me to help shape their day into an adventure-filled with intimate moments and stunning backdrops.

In her initial email, Valerie described their dream day: an outdoor ceremony, all-day photography coverage, and a select group of their closest family members to witness this extraordinary chapter in their love story.

From sunrise at a secluded beach house to a misty hike in the El Yunque Rainforest, their wedding day blended spontaneity and thoughtful planning tailored to highlight their love for the outdoors.

The Morning Glow: First Look & Beach Portraits

Our day started at a beach house at Playa las Picuas, that mirrored the couple's relaxed and effortless style. I arrived shortly before sunrise, and as Valerie finished her hair and makeup, she joined Zach at the backyard for a quiet first look under the soft glow of the early morning sun.

As Zach turned around to see Valerie for the first time, his face lit up with awe and joy. The moment was filled with emotion, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.

As their parents finished getting ready, we strolled along the coast for portraits before we began the journey to the heart of El Yunque.

As we drove up the winding roads, the lush greenery and cascading waterfalls hinted at the magic we were about to capture.

The Ceremony: Rainforest Wedding Vows at El Yunque Rainforest

At the foot of Juan Diego Falls, Valerie and Zach stood amidst towering ferns and the gentle mist of the waterfall. The ceremony felt timeless—pure and serene, with nature as their witness.

Their vows were spoken softly, with only the sound of rushing water and the whispers of the rainforest around us. With their parents and nature as their witness, they promised to stand each other's side through every adventure ahead. Their eyes glistened with happy tears.

It was a ceremony as genuine and authentic as the couple themselves.

Post-Ceremony Exploration: Rainy Hikes and Waterfall Rainforest Wedding Portraits

After the ceremony, the newlyweds embraced the opportunity to explore deeper into the forest without their families, hiking up to a second, more secluded waterfall.

They climbed over slippery rocks, hand in hand, was a true reflection of how they approach life together—taking on challenges with laughter and unwavering support.

The rain-soaked trails only added to the day's excitement. As the rain drizzled down, Valerie's lace dress and Zach's rolled-up pants showed signs of the terrain, yet their spirits remained high. They smiled through every step, their connection so tangible that no rain or obstacle could dampen their joy.

Family Celebration: Brunch at Ekelekua

The day wrapped up with a cozy, celebratory brunch at Ekelekua. Over mimosas, tapas, and lively conversation, their parents shared stories and well-wishes, creating a sense of home and warmth.

The relaxed atmosphere allowed everyone to be present, savoring the joy of being part of such an intimate, heartfelt celebration.

Valerie and Zach's rainforest elopement was more than just a wedding—it was an adventure celebrating their bond and love with their families.

Their trust in me to guide them through unfamiliar territory, literally and figuratively, made capturing this chapter of their love story all the more special.

I'm so happy that we created a such a beautiful day that felt so true to them, as it always should!

Cami
