A Sentimental Wedding Day in One of the Most Overlooked San Juan Wedding Venues
From the very first moment, this wedding felt different. Not just because the couple looked absolutely radiant, or because of the stunning locations we explored across Old San Juan. It was special because Jorge has been part of my photography team for years. He’s been by my side, helping make wedding dreams come true for so many couples, and now it was finally his turn to live his own.
This time, he wasn’t behind the camera—he was in front of it, starting a new chapter with Leslie.
I had the honor of being there from the very beginning of their journey, photographing their surprise proposal in Venice just days after my own engagement in Milan. Ever since that moment, weekend after weekend as we worked weddings together, we talked, dreamed, and vented about planning our own.
After so much planning and anticipation, the day finally came—and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to share it with them.
Getting Ready at Hotel Palacio Provincial
We started the day in the beautiful rooms of Hotel Palacio Provincial, a space that always radiates the charm of Old San Juan, but somehow felt even more magical that day.
Leslie, calm and fully ready, got dressed surrounded by her loved ones. Meanwhile, Jorge was getting ready on the other side of the hotel, visibly nervous and emotional. Their looks embodied the elegance of the day—classic black tie with a tropical twist.
Before the ceremony, there were two emotional first looks that completely stole my breath: first, Leslie shared a quiet, heartfelt moment with her father and brother. Then came the big reveal—her first look with Jorge. For the first time ever, I saw him completely speechless.
After those beautiful moments, we stepped into the cobblestone charm of Old San Juan for quick portraits with the wedding party before heading to one of the area’s most iconic landmarks.
Wedding Ceremony at Castillo San Cristóbal
The ceremony was held at Castillo San Cristóbal, more specifically at the Santa Teresita Bastion.
Before guests arrived, we snuck up to the top of the fort for a few quiet minutes. Leslie and Jorge exchanged their vows privately while the breeze carried their words through the stone walls. Then we returned to the ceremony space, with the Atlantic Ocean sparkling in the distance and fresh florals framing the aisle.
When they met at the altar, joy filled the air. After exchanging rings and promises, they sealed it all with a kiss—and a burst of silver streamers rained down in celebration.
We made our way through family and group portraits quickly and efficiently in the same space, taking advantage of the gorgeous late afternoon light. That gave us just enough time to photograph the reception décor before sunset.
A Magical Reception at Casa Olímpica
We headed back into the heart of Old San Juan and stepped into the enchanted ambiance of Casa Olímpica—one of the most underrated San Juan wedding venues. I hadn’t worked there in years, and this celebration reminded me why it’s such a hidden gem.
The design was a dream: soft whites, lush greens, and floating candlelight surrounded the sweetheart table. Florals cascaded gently down every surface while real trees gave the entire room the feeling of an intimate, secret garden.
And then there was the cake—topped with the cutest custom figurines of their two pups, Kira and Arena. It was a perfect nod to the little family they had already built together.
Leslie and Jorge shared their first dance beneath dramatic ceiling lights that cast warm shadows across the room. It felt like even the venue itself was celebrating with us.
The rest of the night unfolded in laughter, hugs, and a showstopping set by Yuvi Plena that had every single guest on their feet.
Love, Gratitude, and the Day They Deserved
This was one of those weddings where you could feel how much work and love went into every detail. They fought for the day they dreamed of—and it paid off. From flawless coordination by Utopía Events, to the stunning florals by Antonio Jose Design Events, and the energy on the dance floor with Deejays PR, everything came together beautifully.
But more than the visuals, what I take with me is the honor of photographing two people I love dearly.
Capturing Jorge’s face lighting up as Leslie walked down the aisle, after all our years working side by side—it was unforgettable.
So much love for this day, and even more for the family they’re building. Here’s to that spark you two share, always.
xo,
Cami
