Annapolis Photographer: A Magical Sunrise Engagement Session in Historic Downtown Annapolis

When Kristin and Jorge invited me to Maryland for their destination wedding weekend, I was beyond thrilled. Traveling to capture love stories is a privilege, and starting their celebration with a sunrise engagement session in historic downtown Annapolis was pure magic.

Annapolis is one of my favorite locations for engagement photography. Its cobblestone streets, historic charm, and waterfront views provide an unforgettable setting, and Kristin and Jorge’s session highlighted everything that makes Annapolis so special.

Scouting the Best Locations for Annapolis Engagement Photos

As part of my photography services, I always scout and recommend the best locations for each couple’s unique vision. For Kristin and Jorge, I knew downtown Annapolis would be the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos.

From the iconic City Dock to Pinkney Street and the William Paca House & Gardens, Annapolis offers endless opportunities for timeless, romantic photos. I also shared other options nearby, including:

  • Quiet Waters Park: Ideal for wooded trails, open fields, and lush gardens.
  • Sandy Point State Park: Known for its scenic beaches and stunning Chesapeake Bay views.
  • Jonas Green Park: A peaceful waterfront spot for serene, intimate portraits.

Ultimately, Kristin and Jorge chose downtown Annapolis because its mix of history, architecture, and waterfront charm perfectly reflected their love story.

Sunrise at the Annapolis City Dock

We began their engagement session at sunrise, which is one of the best times to capture Annapolis in its most tranquil and beautiful state. I arrived early to explore the area and plan our route, starting at the iconic City Dock.

As the sun rose, Kristin and Jorge met me at the State House Cannon. The soft, golden light illuminated the water and historic streets, creating the most magical setting for their Annapolis engagement photos.

This quiet time before the city woke up gave us space to connect, laugh, and ease into the session. We walked along the docks, taking advantage of the dreamy light and serene atmosphere.

Capturing Love in the Heart of Annapolis

Throughout the session, we visited some of Annapolis’s most iconic spots. Kristin and Jorge particularly loved the famous Wisteria Mural, which added a playful pop of color to their portraits. Their connection was undeniable, shining through in every frame — whether they were holding hands on the cobblestone streets or sharing a quiet moment surrounded by history.

Their outfits were perfect for the setting: Kristin wore a crisp white dress paired with a denim jacket, while Jorge opted for a navy button-up shirt and khakis. The combination complemented the laid-back yet polished vibe of Annapolis beautifully.

One of my favorite moments was capturing them by the dock with sailboats swaying in the background. The sunrise painted the sky with soft hues, and the reflections on the water added a stunning dimension to their portraits.

Why Annapolis Engagement Photos Are Unforgettable

Annapolis is truly a dream location for engagement photography. Its blend of historic landmarks, vibrant streets, and waterfront serenity offers endless inspiration for photographers and couples alike.

Whether you’re drawn to the charm of the City Dock, the elegance of the William Paca House, or the natural beauty of parks like Quiet Waters, there’s something for everyone. For couples considering Annapolis for their engagement photos, it’s a setting that combines romance, history, and a touch of magic.

After our session, Kristin and Jorge headed off to finalize wedding details, while I prepared for their rehearsal dinner later that evening at Kent Narrows Marina. Their engagement photos were the perfect start to an incredible wedding weekend.

Kristin and Jorge’s love story, combined with the beauty of Annapolis, reminded me why I adore being a destination wedding and engagement photographer. Moments like these — capturing laughter, connection, and unforgettable backdrops — are what make my work so fulfilling.

Stay tuned for more from their wedding weekend—it’s just as magical as their engagement session!

xo, Cami
