Tropical Destination Wedding in the Caribbean

I've been trying to catch up on blogging, so I'm mixing recent and non-recent ones. Here's a beautiful #throwback that was due for a long time!

I met Micaela and William on their rehearsal dinner coverage at Raices Restaurant the night before their wedding. I immediately fell in love with the happy and familiar vibe they and their guests were sharing.

I captured mostly candids, but as I was about to head home, everyone wanted portraits taken by me, so I got acquainted with almost everyone. I was excited and knew we would have a great time on their wedding day.

Destination Wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre

The next day, I arrived early for Micaela and William's getting ready photos at the Hacienda. William and his groomsmen were ready and displaying their traditional linen guayaberas, so we hung out around the pool table, taking candid images before I headed to Micaela's suite.

The bridal suite was packed! They were all wearing bright blue robes, so before I did anything else, I captured their bridesmaid portraits. They were all super helpful, and Micaela got dressed up very quickly, so we went outdoors for beautiful bridal portraits before the ceremony.

A Wedding During Flamboyan Season in Puerto Rico

It was a very bright and sunny day at the Hacienda. Micaela and William recited their vows under a fully blossomed Flamboyan tree and then moved onto a shaded lawn area for formal group portraits.

The Flamboyan tree is an icon of our Puerto Rican summers, as it covers our mountains with fire-red (or yellow) blooms. These trees usually bloom around June, and they are in season all the way through August.

We worked these portraits very quickly, so we got extra time for newlywed photos around the Hacienda. We took some of my favorite newlywed portrait sessions in this venue to date.

Then I went to take on the decor photos; the highlights were the pitorro station (Puerto Rican moonshine) and a tiered donut cake. The reception protocol quickly started, and we experienced beautiful first dances and emotive toasts.

It was a happy, laid-back event, and I'm glad I captured it!

Cami
