Boho, Laid-Back Vibes at a Copamarina Beach Resort Wedding
From the beginning of their consultation, booking, and planning process, Alison and José's project felt very effortless. So it was only logical that their Monday wedding day at Copamarina Beach Resort was only an extension of that laid-back vibe they had cultivated in their wedding planning.
Weddings at Copamarina Beach Resort
There are endless options for getting married by the beach in Puerto Rico. Still, as a wedding photographer, Copamarina has always been one of my favorite beach wedding venues. It's away from the more busy, touristic sites, it is beautiful, and it has a calm vibe that makes it attractive to both local and destination couples.
I got there early, under an inclement weather forecast. I was optimistic the clouds would open up before the ceremony time. Alison had finished with her hair and makeup, so I started quickly with the detail shots before taking her out to her balcony and nearby areas for bridal portraits. I loved her bouquet, a hybrid of fresh and dry florals, orchids, and the star of the show: a pink king protea. After the bridals, we brought in Alison's family for a father and daughter first look and sister's portraits.
We were done early with portraits, and I moved towards the ceremony and reception venues, where the decor team had already set up. Before the ceremony, I took all the decor photos to have more time for candids later. Then I met José as their guests started arriving at the ceremony site. I loved the casual vibe of this event. Finally, we got our cue, and their lovely ceremony started. Several readings made this moment very personal to the couple, and after they were declared married, we took a walk away from their guests for their portrait session.

Alison and José are not too big on portraits and wanted a documentary-style approach for most of their wedding, so we made their pictures short, candid, and easy. Then, we walked back to the ceremony arch for family portraits before getting into the ballroom.
There was a packed ballroom, but the event was so warm and cozy that it felt like the most intimate event. The speeches and toasts were thoughtful, funny, and very emotional. After dinner, everyone danced the night away.
Alison & Jose's wedding felt more like a resort retreat and less like work. Thanks for having me, and I hope every day of your married life is as fun and relaxed as the first one.

Cami
