A Destination Wedding at Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort

After 14 years as a wedding photographer, you'd think that I would get tired of the "same thing over and over". There are a lot of stereotypes attached to weddings and celebrations like this, and while sometimes they ring true, I can say I love every part of my job. Today I want to share one of my recent favorites: Alex & Lauren's destination wedding at the Marriott Couryard Isla Verde.

It's a privilege to capture the memories of so many differfent couples on their special day. From the first moment they put on their dress to the last dance of the evening, there are countless moments to capture and preserve. On Alex and Lauren's case, it was equal parts beautiful and fun!

Planning a Destination Wedding in Marriott Courtyard Isla Verde

When it comes to destination weddings, there's something truly special about the experience: you're surrounded by your closest family and friends in a stunning location, chosen specifically for this celebration.

The excitement and anticipation of the day are palpable, and there's a sense of adventure and romance in the air. Everyone's on vacation, it's all good!

My day with Lauren and Alex started at their respective hotel rooms. They were getting ready separately, with their loved ones as they all finished their looks.

As Lauren finished getting ready, we did first looks with her dad, her bridesmaids, her mom, and soon-to-be-mother-in-law. After that, I went downstairs as she finished a handwritten letter for Alex, who was waiting for us at the first look location.

We did the first look session at the entrance of the hotel so wedding guests wouldn't see us just yet. After the bride and groom had their reveal and letter exchange, we took advantage of the tropical landscaping and beautiful lighting to do all family and group shots then and there. After the ceremony, we would do only newlywed photos closer to the beach.

Beach Wedding Ceremony at Marriott Courtyard Isla Verde Resort

Surrounded by rainclouds, we were the only portion of the beach with clear skies, which lasted long enough for the ceremony and beach newlywed photos. The ceremony was very emotional, personalized, and included readings and words by Lauren, Alex, and ther nearest and dearest.

After they were declared married, we ran to the beach, and (mojitos in hand) we did their newlywed photos. I love the opportunity to capture the beauty of the location and the couple's personality.

Working closely with the couple to understand their vision for their special day, I strive to capture the essence of their love story in every image. Alex and Lauren looked serious, but once you got them talking they were actually very goofy and had great chemistry between them.

After the portraits were completed, I went upstairs to capture the decor and setup for the ceremony as the sun set and a storm started. The open terrace had to be closed for the reception, but the energy inside the room was never diluted, and we had so much fun as they danced the night away.

Overall, the experience of photographing a destination wedding is something truly special. It allows me to capture the beauty of the location, the personalities of the couple, and the love that brings them together. As a photographer, it's an honor to be a part of such a special day, and I strive to create images that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
