DIY Wedding on a Rainy Day @ Hacienda Siesta Alegre
After falling in love with Deborah & Jonathan’s quirky personalities at their uber-cute engagement session at Jardín Botánico de Caguas, I was really excited to work with them again, this time for their wedding day at Hacienda Siesta Alegre. For the volume of weddings I work there, this was the first time I had a very particular guest: rain. That meant Plan B; the ceremony had to be moved to another area. This gave us extra time to capture Deborah’s getting ready.
I’m always so thankful my clients trust me with taking their dresses out from the room to create images with them.
Some things I love about my job is being able to spot spontaneous side-stories to the day.
The essentials: sometimes it takes more than orange blossom water (of common usage among Puertorican grandma’s) to calm the nerves. Gladly, the girls were stocked up with Puerto Rican rum.
Since we were waiting for the rain to stop in order to start the processional, we were able to stop for a few gorgeous portraits of Deborah. Loved her look!
Afterwards I ran to the ceremony area where Jonathan was waiting for us! The ceremony was beautiful; the rainfall sound in the background, the beautiful flora of the Hacienda as a backdrop, and the beautiful words the minister spoke are still very cherished memories in my heart.
I don’t normally share wedding party portraits in the blog, since they tend to be repetitive, but this was not your usual wedding party…
After some cold refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, we strolled to the hacienda for Jonathan & Deborah’s newlywed session.
Fun fact: I loved the wedding decor. I loved even more that when I’d arrived to the wedding venue hours earlier, the first thing I saw was Jonathan and his best man decorating it! #BestGroomEver, isn’t he?
After the reception protocol, the skies cleared, and one of the craziest parties I’ve ever seen finally started!!
Thanks J&D for such an AMAZING evening. I hope to have you again in front of the lens, and I wish you the happiest of lives together!
XO,
Cami
