Julie & Jim’s Dreamy and Elegant Hacienda Destination Wedding
Julie and Jim's wedding day felt so different, and it also looks different to me. Can you see it? I've done over 50 weddings at Hacienda Siesta Alegre during my career, and I have worked with their vendors on multiple occasions. Still, their day felt unique.
A Rainy Wedding Day
My day with them started with quite a rainy drive to the Hacienda. There I met with Jim and his groomsmen, which were ready and happy to start their photo session, pitching me fun ideas to incorporate into their portraits. After that, I moved to the bridal suite to get acquainted with Julie and her gorgeous bridesmaid squad. I loved everything: Julie's classic glamour look, the black mismatched bridesmaid dresses. And just the overall good mood, which is hard to come by during rainy day weddings.
When planning for outdoor weddings, many couples do have a rain backup plan. But it's essential to not only have such a plan but to have one that you won't hate to use it. Invest time thinking about the design and decor of your backup ceremony, so it doesn't become an instant bummer on your wedding day.
About 30 minutes before the ceremony time, Julie made the decision to stay on the original ceremony plan outside. It really paid off because it miraculously stopped raining, and the wedding happened in the most beautifully soft and cloudy setting.
Another thing with cloudy/rainy wedding days is that it gets darker faster. This is why I recommend being generous in the wedding timeline, not putting the ceremony too close to sunset time. In case there are any delays or weather complications, you still want to have enough time and sunlight for your newlywed and family portraits.
Perfect Wedding Day at Hacienda Siesta Alegre
Julie and Jim were terrific models, their portrait session was a breeze, after which we went straight to an informal protocol with the newlyweds first dance. My favorite part were the speeches made by family members: they were all very authentic, it didn't feel like there was a particular script. And the fact that everyone was sitting down in one big imperial tower made this feel like an intimate family gathering.
After dinner was served, DJ Eric from SBN Entertainment moved everyone to the dancefloor, where we danced the night away.
It was indeed a perfect day, beginning to end.
