Every wedding at Fairmont El San Juan Hotel is unique, but one couple’s special day stood out for its romantic charm and elegant simplicity.

The wedding day began with gorgeous madness. Despite the near-black skies at 2 pm, the couple's decision to stick to plan A was a gamble that paid off beautifully.

Always the optimist, Chris welcomed the challenge with a smile, embodying the couple's adventurous spirit.

Ceremony Highlights: Romantic Vows Under the Banyan Tree

My day with the couple started with their getting ready portraits at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel's Ocean Villa and the Gold Room. Christine's suite was filled with laughter and anticipation, while Chris prepared in the Gold Room, exuding calm and excitement.

After moving back and forth between them, we were ready for the first look session. The couple wanted this moment mainly for the exchange of their private vows.

Considering that it would probably rain on us later that day, we also took the opportunity to finish most of the outdoor portraiture at that moment.

At 5:00 pm, the skies cleared just in time for their ceremony under the iconic banyan tree. The beaming sunlight created a magical atmosphere as they celebrated, surrounded by their loved ones.

After they were declared married, and since the sun had brought up heat and humidity, we took cover inside the hotel.

We did all the family group portraits in the A/C before we left again for some beachfront newlywed photos.

As the sunset cocktail hour progressed outside, we walked into the empty ballroom to photograph decor and cool down for the reception.

Reception: Elegant Ballroom Setup with Luxury Details

After the ceremony, the celebration moved indoors to one of Fairmont’s grand ballrooms. The reception featured:

• Chic and timeless decor: Gold-accented tables, crystal chandeliers, and candlelit centerpieces.
• A custom Puerto Rican-inspired menu: Guests enjoyed a fusion of gourmet cuisine, including fresh seafood and traditional dishes.
• A lively dance floor: With live music keeping the energy high, the couple and their guests danced late into the night.

The reception was a joyous celebration, with dinner, dancing, and candid moments documented throughout the evening. The speeches were full of personality and funny anecdotes, just as Chrissy and Chris are.

As dinner was over, Joel Big J did what he does best: turning up an epic party where no one could stay away from the dancefloor. It was one of those nights when my shift could be over, and I would remain just for the party.
