Before Alyse and Carlos's Puerto Rico Destination Wedding, I had only been once to Hacienda Campo Rico and completely fell in love with it. For this occasion, everything would happen at the Hacienda: getting ready, ceremony, and reception. So even though I didn't get to communicate much with Alyse and Carlos during the planning before the wedding, I was very excited and trusting that their vendor team would be amazing!

A Puerto Rico Destination Wedding

The lovebirds met in mainland US in the veterinary clinic where they both worked, became friends, and hit it off pretty well. Their love for animals, the fact that their personalities mesh so well together and balance each other, made them quickly fall in love until Carlos proposed!

They chose Puerto Rico because Carlos is boricua, so it would be so special to bring family and loved ones from the mainland to experience Puerto Rican culture, and share happy memories of the Caribbean. And I'm sure it was amazing for them!

Wedding Photography in Hacienda Campo Rico

As discussed before the wedding in the timeline drafting, my day with the couple started an hour prior to the ceremony for Alyse's getting ready portraits. She was getting ready in the bridal suite of the venue: so beautiful and big, with lots of rustic accents and details! After photographing all the details, my attention switched to the relationship dynamics and documenting what was going on in the room.

Eventually, I moved downstairs to photograph Carlos with his immediate family, who were already in the ceremony area waiting for the event to start. The ceremony was beautiful; so romantic and meaningful.

The thing about meeting the clients for the first time on the wedding day is, you get to meet them individually before seeing them together. Alyse and Carlos's faces wholly changed when they looked at each other. "These two tooootally love each other," I remember thinking during the ceremony.

After the ceremony and the family portraits, all the guests went upstairs for a cocktail while Alyse, Carlos and I walked around the Hacienda for their newlywed pictures. These portraits felt so effortless, and looked so amazing!

After the couple and decor photos were done, the reception started, and I was able to experience how much happiness and love the guests felt towards the newlyweds. The dancefloor was never empty, and I went home with a big smile on my face!
