A Beautiful Victory Lap: One-Year Celebration with a Hotel La Concha Wedding

When Hunter and Joseph invited their guests to their Hotel La Concha wedding, they had a surprise waiting. Not only was this a wedding celebration—it was also their first anniversary as an already married couple!

This revelation brought an extra layer of joy and excitement as everyone gathered to celebrate their marriage and a year spent together in this new chapter of their lives.

The Relaxed Vibe of a Well-Planned Hotel La Concha Wedding

As parents with busy lives, Hunter and Joseph ensured their wedding day was everything they wanted—beautiful and easygoing, with all the details taken care of by a stellar vendor team. From the very beginning, they embraced the day with presence and ease. Despite the schedule, there was a natural flow, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the moments that mattered most.

The day ran smoothly with the help of their wedding planner, Karen Martinez from Soiree.

Each part of the event—from the getting ready moments in their hotel suites to the First Look at the Atrium to their poolside wedding ceremony at La Concha’s Marena Terrace—felt like a true celebration, not just of their love but of how far they had come together as partners.

Shades of Blue: A Serendipitous Theme

Hunter and Joseph chose a beach formal dress code, asking their guests to wear shades of blue. The theme carried through in all the details—the soft blues of the bridesmaid dresses, the elegant watercolor stationery, and the lush florals by Patricia Torres, which filled the venue with greenery and delicate blooms in blues, whites, and soft pinks.

As a photographer who was also a bride, I loved seeing this because their color palette mirrored my wedding, which I hadn’t even had yet!

Only later did I discover that 2024 was the year of blue weddings—a trend Hunter and Joseph were already ahead of. Seeing those shades of blue tied into every detail, from the décor to the florals to the cake by Keik by Andrea.

Their cake, with its ocean-inspired watercolor design and gold leaf accents, added a luxurious touch while still reflecting the beachy vibe of their day.

A Toddler’s Magic Touch

One of the most heartwarming elements of the day was the presence of their toddler, who brought an extra layer of joy and playfulness to the celebration. From getting ready with Hunter in her suite to photobombing their first dance, their child was involved in every significant moment, creating beautiful memories that I know Hunter and Joseph will cherish as they grow older. There’s something magical about capturing a couple’s first dance. At the same time, their child looks on; in this case, their little one added so much personality and charm to the day.

The Importance of a Nanny on a Wedding Day with Kids

With small children playing such an active role in Hunter and Joseph’s day, I recommend couples consider hiring a designated nanny or caretaker during their wedding. Having someone there allows parents to truly enjoy all the wedding moments—getting ready, the First Look, the ceremony, and the reception—without worrying about filling the caretaker role. This lets everyone be fully present for the celebration and those sweet family moments.

A Year Later, Celebrating a Beautiful Community with a Hotel La Concha Wedding

The celebration felt like a victory lap for Hunter and Joseph after one full year of marriage. Throughout the day, you could see how supportive they were of one another, helping each other feel relaxed, joyful, and fully present. Clearly, their love had only grown stronger over the past year, and it was such a privilege to document that for them.

As their photographer, I’m always honored to be entrusted with capturing these moments. And for Hunter and Joseph, this was a day where love, family, and the beautiful surroundings of Hotel La Concha came together perfectly.
