An Intimate Destination Wedding: Mia & Capri’s 20-Year Renewal in Old San Juan

Two decades ago, Mia and Capri embarked on their journey with a spontaneous Vegas elopement. They exchanged vows in an intimate setting that reflected their deep love but lacked the grand celebration they secretly desired.

Fast-forward twenty years, and after building a strong, beautiful family and overcoming life's inevitable challenges, they knew it was time to honor their love story in a way that would bring together all those who had supported them along the way.

In May 2024, Mia and Capri chose the vibrant city of Old San Juan for their long-awaited celebration. The city's historic charm, with its colorful colonial architecture and rich cultural heritage, made it the perfect backdrop for their intimate destination wedding. They selected the elegant Hotel Palacio Provincial as their venue, a gem nestled in the heart of San Juan known for hosting some of the most beautiful San Juan weddings.

"We need to create more reasons to celebrate together," Capri said during the speeches, a sentiment that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance. In a world where time often slips away too quickly, Mia and Capri's decision to renew their vows was a poignant reminder of pausing to celebrate love, family, and the friendships that make life meaningful.

Their vow renewal was a day filled with intention, gratitude, and positivity, and though I was with them for just a few hours, I left incredibly inspired by their journey and the close-knit community that surrounded them.

A Beautifully Planned Intimate Destination Wedding

Hotel Palacio Provincial offered the perfect blend of elegance and intimacy for Mia and Capri's special day. This hotel has a special meaning for me because it is not only gorgeous and a brand new venue on the wedding epicenter of Old San Juan, but it was also the hotel where I stayed on my wedding weekend.

The wedding day began with the ceremony at 5:00 pm. Mia and Capri stood before their loved ones at this beautiful moment, reaffirming their commitment to each other. The ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, set against the hotel's architecture's classic beauty, adding an extra layer of charm to this small destination wedding.

The ceremony was full of laughter, tears, and a general vibe of harmony and gratitude. You could see how the couple felt so fortunate and blessed to be there with all their VIPs. After the ceremony, we moved to capture family portraits, ensuring that each precious relationship was documented in the hotel's surroundings.

The joy and love in the air were palpable, especially during the newlywed photo session in the nearby streets of Old San Juan. The colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, and vibrant city atmosphere perfectly complemented Mia and Capri's love story, creating stunning images that will be cherished for years.

Before returning to the reception, we visited Palacio Provincial's rooftop for a beautiful view of the Old San Juan skyline. Back at the intimate reception ballroom, the team had crafted an elegant and welcoming atmosphere, with Patricia Torres from Lorraine's Flowers floral arrangements adding bursts of color and fragrance to the evening. The reception officially began, where the couple and their guests enjoyed a delicious meal, heartfelt toasts, and music by Emir Feliciano, who kept the energy high throughout the night.

Throughout the night, Mia and Capri were surrounded by laughter, love, and the undeniable joy of sharing such a special moment with those who mean the most. As their photographer, my goal was to document these moments without interrupting the natural flow of the evening, allowing the couple to fully immerse themselves in the celebration. It was the perfect reminder that love and marriage can be the most exciting and rewarding jobs we can have in life.

I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of their special day, and I am thrilled to share some of my favorite images from the event below. I hope you enjoy them as much as I loved capturing them.

Cami
