I'll never forget Helena & Steven's engagement session because I was anxious! It was "swell day," a historical swell a few months ago that was so powerful and destructive that we could hear the ocean rumbling from far away. It reminded me of another natural phenomenon that we had last year, so I was just... on edge.

Helena and Steven were therapeutical in that sense. Steve was a jokester, all smiles; while Helena had a charming and calming presence. Their love and tenderness towards each other not only gave me fantastic photos and also warmed my heart on that oddly cold day.

Helena and Steve took two hours of their busy vacation-while-wedding-planning schedule in their limited time in Puerto Rico for engagement photos in historic Old San Juan. I gave them a walking tour around my favorite locations, and just let them be their amazing selves.

It was a cloudy day, so the light was dim and flattering everywhere we went, which was easy because I didn't have to worry about lighting: just them and their expressions. I think this is why this set speaks to me on a very different level; I don't know if it's just me but I feel their connection and happiness permeates through the images.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this set as much as I did putting it together, and I hope to have these lovebirds on my lens again!
