4 Reasons to Have a Prewedding Photoshoot Before Getting Married

A pre-wedding photoshoot is a fun way to document your relationship before tying the knot.

Besides showing off your love for each other in photos that will last forever, you'll have updated visual material that might be useful for your wedding website, wedding day stationery, and wedding branding.

Here are some reasons to have an engagement photo shoot before getting married.

It's a Great Way to Practice Being in Front of the Camera Together.

If you're planning on getting married soon, why not consider having a pre-wedding engagement photo shoot? It will help you get comfortable being in front of the camera as you learn how to pose and style together.

You also get the opportunity to hire a different photographer you wanted at your wedding but couldn't hire a photographer at a vacation destination to remember those romantic getaway memories. Anything goes!

It's a Fun Core Memory of your Wedding Planning Era.

Wedding planning is well-known for adding some stress, even for couples who otherwise lead calm, daily lives. There are a lot of interesting family and friend dynamics to go through and many budgets and design conversations you probably have never been through as a couple before. As a result, many couples experience wedding planning fatigue.

A pre-wedding photoshoot may come to the rescue! This fun pre-wedding activity goes into this period's essence: commemorating your love and relationship.

You'll get quality time with each other, away from your phones, emails, and schedules, while you enjoy and celebrate.

For stress-stricken couples, my advice as a wedding photographer is to keep it simple: don't overthink your clothing, props, or location. Instead, trust your pre-wedding photographer as an expert resource. Leave the posing and directing in the hands of your photographer, and focus on loving and encouraging each other.

You Get to Test-Drive your Wedding Vendors -and maybe even your Venue!

A pre-wedding photo session is a great way to ensure you both look your best on your wedding day. In addition, it'll give you plenty of time to work out any last-minute details with your photographer.

You can also schedule your hair and makeup trial for the exact date and kill two wedding-planning birds with one stone.

Pre-wedding photoshoot at Villa Montaña Beach Resort and Old San Juan

In Yesenia and Luis Manuel's case, we did a two-part pre-wedding photoshoot which we started at their wedding venue: Villa Montaña Beach Resort. We had fun walking around the resort and finding the best locations for engagement photos.

Unfortunately, the engagement session had to be cut short due to rain. Still, I offered the possibility of doing a second part in Old San Juan, which from our conversation, I learned they would visit the next day. We got clear skies this time, and we had a great time exploring my favorite city in Puerto Rico.

As I blog this, Yesenia and Luis Manuel are about to get married today. I'm so excited about their big day and the fantastic memories we will continue to create together. I can't wait to get back home and share them with you!

xo,

Cami
