Kelly & Bryon’s Laid-Back Puerto Rico Elopement
Kelly and Bryon are the kind of couple that make me happy and lucky to have this job! Amazing duo Kelly & Bryon, upon mutually realizing they had found their one, got engaged. Then they realized, like many couples nowadays, that a big wedding just wasn't for them. They eloped in their city hall but wanted to at least have a honeymoon trip and a symbolic portrait session to commemorate this new stage in their lives. And that's how we stumbled unto each other! After booking their Puerto Rico elopement, I was reviewing their contract and noticed they live in Philadelphia, where I would be visiting in a few weeks with my boyfriend. I mentioned that in a short e-mail to Kelly, asking for a few local tips or recommendations on what to do or where to eat.
A casual meeting at their hometown
To my surprise, she replied with a very thorough list which basically we used as our guide the whole trip. But our highlight from that trip was meeting her for a drink, that turned into a few more and also some delicious bacon-wrapped dates. Not often I get to meet my destination wedding clients before the big day, and this made me so much more excited about their day. My boyfriend, who usually isn't much into wedding photography, voluntarily offered to assist me for Kelly's beautiful tropical elopement day, because he wanted to be there!
Another casual meeting at mine
We loved hanging out with Kelly but we still had to meet Bryon, so it was our turn to invite them for a drink! It was a weeknight, so after a few failed attempts at restaurants that happened to be closed that night, we ended at El Tap in Calle Loíza, which is a great hangout spot for beer-lovers, since they have more than two dozen beers on tap. This time we were able to meet them as a couple, and fall in love with their fun personalities! We were ready.
Puerto Rico Elopement Portraits at Condado Beach
After they finished with their hair and makeup appointment, we met with the lovely couple at their Airbnb, which was a few steps from the Ocean Park beach, so we started there with some gorgeous beach photos. It was a weekend day, so we had an audience of people cheering for them while we took the pictures. It was hot and we were good with the beach part, so we called the Uber for the second act of this portrait session.
Old San Juan, Puerto Rico Elopement and Newlywed Photos
Kelly and Bryon were naturals in front of the camera. These portraits were happening so easily, and we were in such a good mood, we actually did a lot more walking than I usually do for a wedding portrait session in Old San Juan. This explains the variety and awesomeness of this portrait set! Thank you K&B for such an amazing time, and for trusting us with your wedding memories. Hope we meet again soon! xo, Cami
