Whimsical and Effortless Outdoor Wedding in a Puerto Rican Hacienda
I can’t believe I had forgotten to share Dana & Chris’s wedding, one of my favorite events at La Hacienda Siesta Alegre from 2016. They were just effortlessly gorgeous, happy and had a wonderful time.
Simple, Laid-back Destination Wedding
I started the day visiting Dana at her bridal suite at the Hacienda. Her closest friends and family were having so much fun in the room that it didn’t feel like they were having a wedding at all, no stress! There were not many details waiting around since Dana kept it minimalistic. There was, however, a paper bouquet she made herself. It was beautiful!!
First Look Session and Portraits at Hacienda Siesta Alegre, Rio Grande
After a lot of group pictures and Dana’s bridal shots, I fetched Chris and walked with him to the iconic arch bridge area of the Hacienda. This area is secluded and away from the main event area, which makes it perfect for an intimate First Look session before the Ceremony.
I like to do my first look sessions having the groom facing the camera, and having the bride walk to us from the back. This means that no one looks at the other until they’re close to each other. Once the bride taps the groom’s shoulder, he turns around to see his gorgeous fiancee right beside him.
For the following minutes, I take a few steps back and let them have the moment to themselves. Sometimes they exchange private vows, letters, or gifts. In D&C’s case, they just looked at each other in awe and hugged. I’m pretty sure they couldn’t believe the moment was already here!
After their first look, we took a walk around the Hacienda while doing their bride and groom portraits. They didn’t want anyone to miss the cocktail hour, so they also scheduled group family portraits before the Ceremony.
The Ceremony was quite special and personal. A good friend of the couple officiated the Ceremony which also included readings done by some of their closest family members. There was not one dry eye in the room, including the photographer. It just was one of those weddings that make you feel all warm and happy.
I’m so excited to have been trusted to capture such happy moments. Hope you enjoy scrolling through this set!
