A Night with the Castro’s: High School Sweethearts Say ‘I Do’ with a Wildflower Wedding Theme
Hey there, friends! I wanted to share the beautiful love story of Hayley and Justin, a couple I was delighted to photograph on their wildflower-themed wedding in Hacienda Siesta Alegre.
Love can sometimes take a long and winding road to find its way back to us. This is true for Hayley and Justin, who met in high school, lost touch during college, and reconnected years later. Hayley shared that Justin's heart is what she loves most about him. He is kind, funny, and supportive of everything she does. Likewise, Justin adores Hayley's sense of humor, how well she gets along with his family, and her unwavering support.
Two-Day Wedding Photography Package
When it came to their wedding day, they chose the beautiful destination of Puerto Rico as the perfect backdrop for their special day. The venue they selected, Hacienda Siesta Alegre, was the ideal setting for their intimate celebration.
I met them for the first time almost two years before their wedding day. They flew into Puerto Rico for their initial wedding planning trip; we also got to know each other during an engagement session in the rainforest.
They complement each other very well. Hayley has a sweet relaxed vibe, while Justin brought out the adventurous side of both of them. It was so great to connect with them before the wedding, and start building a great team relationship before the big day.
High School Sweethearts' Wildflower Wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre
Two years and a pandemic later, it was finally their moment! My team and I arrived at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort on their wedding day to photograph Justin and Hayley's getting-ready portraits.
I loved the couples' black tie outfits on their daytime looks: It's so rare to see this level of formality on a hacienda wedding, and although it isn't the most comfortable look for the humid heat of the rainforest, a formal attire always looks gorgeous for portraits.
I also loved how Hayley brought the floral theme into her own look with the most gorgeous bridal veil embroidered with flowers.
After capturing detail shots and candids in the bridal room, we did the same for Justin's details. Finally, when we were ready to go; we transferred to Hacienda Siesta Alegre for the first look session and wedding event.
Hayley waited in the car while Justin and I scouted the hacienda for the perfect shaded, intimate spot. We kept this part candid and short since the lighting would be much more flattering for portraits after the ceremony.
The ceremony was a beautiful, sentimental affair, and we moved on to the formal and group portrait session. We captured some beautiful shots of the newlyweds with their families and wedding party and some stunning newlywed portraits around the hacienda. We captured all of these shots before sunset for the perfect dreamy look.
As the night went on, we captured some unforgettable moments of their reception, filled with wildflower florals, a cigar rolling station, and finished with a sparklers grand exit. It was such an epic wedding day, and I loved every minute.
Looking back, I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Hayley and Justin are such a kind and cool couple, and I'm honored to have been a part of their love story. Thank you for sharing this day with me!
