Reflections from WPPI 2024: Connection, Inspiration, and Growth in Las Vegas

2024 has been a year filled with energy and adventure, both personally and professionally.

Looking back, one of the most inspiring and energizing moments was my whirlwind trip to WPPI 2024 in Las Vegas.

This annual convention gathers photographers from around the world, and this year was no exception. From knowledge-filled seminars to an expo brimming with innovation, WPPI was exactly what I needed to recharge my passion for the upcoming season and meet people who would be key to my professional development.

Here, I’ll share a closer look at this experience and the memories that have left a lasting impression on my journey as a photographer.

Day 1: New Faces and Scenic Views on a Photo Walk with Aftershoot and Latinos Who Photograph

This year, my WPPI experience began with an inspiring Photo Walk organized by Aftershoot, UAF Photo Lab, and Latinos Who Photograph.

I had the incredible opportunity to connect with talented photographers from Puerto Rico, the U.S., and Latin America as we explored Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, photographing horses and the charming model, Celina.

Walking through these iconic landscapes outside the city while getting to know each other was an unforgettable way to kick off WPPI.

With the ice broken, the night continued with a welcome cocktail at The Mirage, where I felt the warmth of this global community of creatives—each one here to grow, learn, and celebrate our craft.

Day 2: Learning from Industry Masters at The Wedding Masters

Day two was a day of learning, with sessions at the Wedding Masters conference, where industry leaders shared invaluable insights on new techniques and the art of storytelling in wedding photography.

Learning from some of the best in the business, like Susan Stripling and KT Merry, left me buzzing with ideas to enhance my work and provide a more complete service to the couples I photograph in Puerto Rico.

The night culminated with the epic Fujifilm party, where we celebrated our love for photography and toasted to future seasons filled with creativity and innovation.

Day 3: Discovering the Future of Photography

My day at the Expo was thrilling as I explored cutting-edge products and services to integrate into the next wedding season.

From new gear to software updates, I walked away with renewed inspiration to elevate my offerings. I met some of my heroes in real life, such as the Magical Unicorns behind Aftershoot.

Innovations in wedding photography are always on display here, and it’s exciting to see how technology and creativity continue to advance our industry.

A Taste of Vegas Nightlife

Of course, a trip to Las Vegas wouldn’t be complete without a night of dancing. I joined other attendees for an evening at OMNIA Nightclub, where we let loose and celebrated our achievements.

These shared experiences are part of what makes WPPI so special—the mix of learning, connection, and fun with people who truly understand the passion behind what we do.

A Small Regret and a Big Inspiration

One regret was not being able to attend Zura Film’s seminar, where he represented Puerto Rico with pride, sharing the magic of his wedding cinema. I felt so proud seeing talented Puerto Rican photographers like him and our very own Maydeline Inés elevate our craft on such an important stage.

It was inspiring to see how Puerto Rico’s presence is growing at these global events, and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of this creative and dedicated community.

Reflections on Connection and Progress

WPPI is so much more than a convention; it’s a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s about the friendships we forge and the shared passion that fuels our creative paths.

I can’t wait to reunite with these amazing friends and colleagues next year, to catch up and celebrate the collective progress we’ve made in our art and businesses.

WPPI was undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2024, and I’m leaving inspired to bring even more joy and creativity into the weddings I capture.

Upon my return to Puerto Rico, I’m more motivated than ever to embrace a new season. The knowledge, connections, and memories from WPPI 2024 are experiences I’ll carry forward as I continue to document love stories.

Here’s to another year of growth, inspiration, and connection, both behind the lens and with all of you who make this journey worthwhile.

xo,
Cami
