La Lanterna: Dreamy Destination Wedding at Old San Juan
On countless occasions, I've been - respectfully - escorted out of La Lanterna San Juan because I ventured into their stunning interior patio with engagement session clients, eager to capture that perfect shot. The reason is simple: the interior garden is nothing short of magical! So, when Natalia texted me to say she was getting married at La Lanterna Viejo San Juan, I was over the moon with excitement!
The Venue: La Lanterna Viejo San Juan
La Lanterna by Franco Seccarelli is a culinary gem in Old San Juan's heart. Known for its unparalleled Italian cuisine and enchanting atmosphere, the restaurant boasts an interior patio that feels like a hidden oasis amidst the bustling streets of the Old City.
The combination of rustic charm and lush greenery makes it an ideal location for intimate weddings and elopements. It's no wonder many couples, including Natalia and Jesse, are drawn to this venue for their intimate wedding, rehearsal dinner, or romantic meal while visiting Puerto Rico.
The Wedding Day: From Hotel El Convento to La Lanterna
Natalia and Jesse's micro wedding at La Lanterna, Puerto Rico, may have had a short coverage window. Still, the memories captured tell the story of an entire day. My day began at Hotel El Convento, one of the most iconic hotels in Old San Juan. Natalia's getting-ready session was spectacular, with the hotel's historic architecture providing a stunning backdrop for her bridal portraits. The soft light filtering through the windows added a touch of romance to the entire scene.
After the getting-ready bridal portraits, I walked a few blocks to meet Jesse at Cigar House, a well-known spot in Old San Juan. Jesse, his father, and his best man were savoring a celebratory cigar. This tradition added a personal touch to the day. The streets of Old San Juan, with their cobblestone pathways and vibrant colonial buildings, created a picturesque setting for these moments.
As the ceremony approached, I returned to La Lanterna Viejo San Juan. The short walk allowed me to soak in the atmosphere of the Old City.
There's something extraordinary about navigating these historic streets on foot. If you're planning a wedding in Old San Juan, I recommend accounting for traffic and parking challenges; sometimes, walking or opting for a rideshare service is the best way to ensure you arrive on time.
The Ceremony: An Intimate Affair at La Lanterna San Juan
Without a wedding planner, the day's coordination fell into my hands. Once everything was set up, I gave Natalia the cue to begin her walk from Hotel El Convento to La Lanterna's interior patio. She made her way down the charming streets of Old San Juan, the anticipation building with every step. The weather had threatened to rain earlier, but fortunately, the skies cleared just in time for the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was a beautiful and intimate affair, set against the lush greenery and rustic charm of La Lanterna Puerto Rico. As Natalia and Jesse exchanged their vows, their love was palpable, creating an atmosphere of emotion and joy.
Portrait Session: Exploring Old San Juan
After completing the vows and rituals, Natalia and Jesse were officially married! We quickly moved on to family and group portraits within the restaurant's stunning patio. Once those were done, we took advantage of the beautiful surroundings by sneaking out for a newlywed portrait session around Old San Juan's most iconic streets.
Old San Juan is a photographer's dream, with its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial buildings, and rich history around every corner. From the vibrant hues of the walls to the intricate ironwork on balconies, every element of this city adds to the charm of wedding photos. The narrow streets and hidden courtyards provided the perfect backdrop for Natalia and Jesse's portraits, allowing us to capture the essence of their love in a truly unique setting.
Capturing the Magic of La Lanterna by Franco Seccarelli
La Lanterna by Franco Seccarelli is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where love stories are told and memories are made. The combination of its enchanting interior garden, historic ambiance, and central location in Old San Juan makes it an ideal venue for couples looking to celebrate their love in an intimate and unique setting. For photographers like myself, it offers endless opportunities to create stunning images that couples will cherish forever.
I hope you enjoy this extended set of images from Natalia and Jesse's beautiful wedding at La Lanterna San Juan. If you're considering this venue for your special day, I can't recommend it enough. La Lanterna Puerto Rico's magic must be experienced to be truly appreciated.
