Katie and Matt's wedding is one of those I call "unicorn weddings," where everything happens ideally, effortlessly, and it's like I'm on cloud nine the whole day. I embrace and enjoy them because 99% of weddings, it usually feels like you're swimming against the current for everything to fall into place. No biggie: It's part of the job. If any wedding industry professional is reading this, they just silently nodded.

Wedding Photography at Hotel El Convento San Juan, Puerto Rico

My day started at Katie's gorgeous suite at Hotel El Convento. She didn't have a wedding party. Instead, she was getting ready with her closest relatives, doing her makeup, in such a relaxing atmosphere, it felt like we were getting ready for a day out. I loved her romantic look with a lace gown and garden roses on her hair. So pretty! Matt was not interested in his getting ready part, so I met him downstairs at the ceremony area, El Patio del Níspero, which is the interior patio of Hotel El Convento San Juan. We greeted guests while we waited for the ceremony to start. And then Katie arrived, Matt's face lit up instantly, and their excellent service started.

Newlywed Portraits around Old San Juan

After exchanging vows and I do's, we walked inside the A/C for a while, I photographed their minimalist decor and then walked around Old San Juan, where we did a breezy, beautiful photo shoot in the picturesque, colorful, cobblestone streets. When we were finished, we went back inside to the ballroom, where guests were ready and waiting for the reception to start. Before my short coverage ended, I photographed the toasts, and there was even a bit of dancing. As I said a short, sweet, unicorn wedding. It was so much fun! Congrats to the newlyweds.
