Two days, two looks: Marriage Proposal at Perla in La Concha
Most times, when I get on an onboarding call with a client who's about to propose, they focus on logistics, finding answers to their questions about proposing in Puerto Rico, locations for great photos, my photography proposal packages, or recommendations on what to do during their vacation in Puerto Rico.
On James's onboarding call, we talked about one thing and one thing only: how Keely turned his life around ever since they met. I was deeply moved by how he described her, how he talked about the family they've built together, and how ready he was to take their relationship to the next level.
Marriage Proposal Photography at Perla Restaurant at La Concha Resort
Perla is no longer a standalone restaurant but a venue of the resort. James booked a dinner there to set up decor and have an intimate proposal where she was the center of attention. I met him at the lobby, walked to Perla, and quickly set up my gear while he went up to fetch her for their "dinner reservation."
When Keely walked in, rose petals led the way to a single table with a box and a bottle of champagne. They had an intimate moment after he kneeled, and she said yes! We celebrated with a few portraits around the hotel, after which I left them to enjoy their engagement dinner.
Day-after engagement photos at Old San Juan
James knew he wanted engagement portraits but wanted them on a different day. Doing the engagement session on a different date to the proposal is something I recommend for proposal clients who wish for a full photoshoot; this way, your new fianceé doesn't feel unprepared or uncomfortable.
Since they looked dressy on their proposal, they chose a casual look for their Old San Juan portraits, which I loved, because it sets the tone for a laid-back, fun afternoon. I showed them around some of my favorite spots for photos and celebrated the moment with them. I loved the results!
Happy wedding planning!
