Bohemian Old San Juan Microwedding at Hotel El Convento, Puerto Rico

Old San Juan is one of the best places for elopements and microweddings in Puerto Rico. It's completely walkable, full of great restaurants and bars, amazing sights, and lots of history. It is also dreamy and beautiful. This is why it wouldn't be surprising to find me there, as a wedding photographer I go there almost every other day, and when I'm not shooting, I'm hanging out there because I love it.

Non-Traditional Old San Juan Microwedding

As a matter of fact, I was hanging out at Old San Juan with my best friend when I got an inquiry from Mónica on my cell phone. I called her right away and we started talking about her wedding with Michael.

She described her relationship and her event as a simple, non-traditional wedding. They just wanted the essentials: making memories, and having someone capture them.

Our day started later than usual. Since it was a summer wedding, the Ceremony started late in the evening. I got at the bridal getting ready before the ceremony. She was ready, happy, and alone, so we quickly went through the accessories and the bridal portraits.

Michael did not particularly want his getting ready portraits done, so we went straight down to the Ceremony.

Microwedding Ceremony at Hotel El Convento

Their wedding ceremony was held in the same Reception room, the Martorell ballroom. The Martorell Ballroom is a dreamy ballroom used for small weddings in Puerto Rico, that is beautifully painted all around with a tribute honoring women, faith, and literature. Perfect for a couple as bohemian and artistic as Mónica and Michael.

The Ceremony was very beautiful, informal, and happy. Right after the rituals were finished, guests stood up and embraced the couple for a few minutes until the cocktails started moving around, and we got a window to escape outdoors.

Outside, the weather was perfect, and the light was soft and dreamy. We walked around the Old San Juan streets, doing one of my favorite newlywed portrait sessions ever! We came back to a first dance, meaningful toasts, and a beautiful, intimate affair.

It was beautiful to capture this day, and I truly hope you enjoy the set as much as I did capturing.
