Amalfi Coast Elopement Photographer: Villa La Rondinaia in Ravello

Today's Amalfi Coast elopement blog is one that I've been holding close to my heart for the entire summer. Lissette and Sean are a couple who had blessed me with the opportunity of capturing not one, but two of their weddings. The first time we worked together, it was at 2017 for their destination wedding in Puerto Rico.

Nearly a decade later, a morning in Madrid as I enjoyed a coffee, I got an exciting email where Lissette was inquiring about the possibility of an elopement overseas: the Swiss Alps was the destination that they had initially in mind.

After some travel and vacation planning where we also considered Andorra and the Dolomites, we landed on a symbolic elopement on the cliffs of Ravello, followed by a sunset boat tour in Amalfi Coast. A magical day that would begin with a sunrise pre-wedding photoshoot in the sleeping streets of Amalfi town.

Getting Ready at Villa La Rondinaia

After our sunrise session and some Italian espresso, we took the morning off to rest and recharge before resuming the celebrations in Ravello.

Villa La Rondinaia in Ravello sits high above the coastline, the getting ready moments felt like a fairytale after an early morning start. Lissette and Sean were getting ready at the same suite, we started with all the still objects and accessories as we waited on the temporary afternoon showers to subside.

Wedding Ceremony on the Inspiration Terrace

Their symbolic ceremony took place on La Rondinaia's Inspiration Terrace, a private stone balcony carved into the cliffside with open views to the Amalfi Coast. Clouds on eye-level, it truly felt like we were in heaven as Lissette and Sean declared their private vows.

A new love is beautiful, exciting, full of possibility; but there is nothing quite as deep as a homecoming. The utter certainty of knowing you will be someone’s forever.

My husband JC tagged along with me as my assistant and content creator, which made the afternoon flow easier logistically. A career doctor, he rarely ever gets to join me for work, but this wedding it was no ordinary one.

Everyone who has ever found their way back to a person they once parted ways with, we truly know the weight of that second encounter. The familiarity, the surrender, the quiet resolve that this time, you will do what it takes to build something full of love, respect, and kindness. The unspoken mantra: this time, I’m not letting you go.

I’m so grateful to have been invited into these renewed vows. And to have shared the experience with *my* own life partner, who continually shows up for me in ways I sometimes don’t even feel deserving of. In so many ways it felt like a full circle moment, something far larger than photographing a beautiful wedding, although I rarely think of my work as just that anyway.

Wedding Portraits on the Muse Terrace, Pool, and Villa La Rondinaia Gardens

After the ceremony, we moved through the rest of the Villa's grounds for portraits: the Muse Terrace, the pool, and the endless beautiful gardens, quintessentially Amalfitani. But I'll admit that the views, lemon trees, sculpted hedges, stone pathways, wisteria trellis, and painted tile were no match to the glow that emanated from our newlyweds.

A Sunset Boat Tour Along the Amalfi Coast

As the light started to shift, we made our way down to Amalfi port for the final chapter of our adventure together: a sunset boat tour along the coast, with pizza and prosecco in hand. After spending a full day on land, getting to watch the magic of the city with the golden hour sun glowing from the water was the perfect ending!

I loved that this day gave me everything a photographer could dream of, and yet it was about none of those things. This was one of those experiences that feeds my soul and reminds me of all the beautiful, powerful things love is doing quietly in the world, even when the headlines say otherwise. Grazie mille!

Lissette's Review

More than a Photographer

Camille was so much more than our wedding photographer—she became such an important part of our wedding day and, honestly, one of the things we talk about most when we look back on it.

When we began planning our elopement in Italy, we had the option of hiring a local photographer or bringing Camille. We didn’t have to think about it for long. Camille had photographed our first wedding, and there was no one else we trusted more to capture this chapter of our story.

From our very first conversation, it felt like catching up with an old friend. She understood our story, the weight of our emotions, and just how meaningful this day was to us. She approached every detail with incredible care, spending countless hours scouting locations so we would have not only beautiful photographs, but the perfect memories of our time in Italy.

On the wedding day, Camille and her assistant were extraordinary. They had an incredible ability to know exactly when to be present and guide us, and when to quietly disappear into the background so the most meaningful moments unfolded naturally. They cared for us not only as photographers, but as adventurers navigating a foreign country, making us feel comfortable, confident, and completely at ease in front of the camera for hours.

When we received our gallery, we were absolutely blown away. The photos were delivered promptly, beautifully, and with such professionalism. More than that, every image captured the feeling of the moment. Together, they tell the story of our day in a way we never imagined possible. We laughed, we cried, and by the end of our time together, saying goodbye genuinely felt bittersweet.

Camille’s talent, passion, kindness, and ability to preserve not just memories, but emotions, are truly unmatched. If you’re looking for someone to document one of the most important days of your life, look no further.

Grazie mille, Camille. 🫶🏼

Planning Your Own Amalfi Coast Elopement

A few notes if a cliffside ceremony in Ravello is calling your name.

Villa La Rondinaia's Inspiration Terrace has limited access windows, so build your ceremony and portrait time around what the villa allows rather than assuming you can linger. We had one hour on the terrace and villa interiors, then one hour across the Muse Terrace, pool, and gardens, which was enough time but required a tight, well-planned flow.

Getting up to Ravello takes some planning. Amalfi itself does not have a direct route, so you are looking at either expensive taxis or the SITA bus, which runs on a set schedule along the coastal road. If you are staying in Amalfi the way Lissette and Sean did, build in extra time for the drive up, since the road winds along the cliffs and can take longer than the distance on a map suggests.

If a sunset boat tour is part of your plans, confirm pizza or catering options directly with your boat vendor ahead of time, and check the sunset time for your specific date so your timeline lines up with the light you are hoping for.

This was part two of a two part series following Lissette and Sean through their Italy elopement. If you missed it, part one covers their sunrise engagement session through the streets of Amalfi.
