A Romantic Hacienda Azucena Wedding in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico

I’ve always had a soft spot for Hacienda Azucena. Tucked away in the lush hills of Rio Grande, just minutes from El Yunque Rainforest, this venue feels like a hidden garden overlooking the northern coast of Puerto Rico. The first time I photographed here, I fell in love with its views and peaceful charm.

When Cynthia and Richard reached out about their intimate Hacienda Azucena wedding, I knew it was going to be something special.

Getting Ready at Hacienda Azucena

I arrived early that morning to a quiet, misty breeze and the sounds of coquí frogs fading away as the day began. Upstairs, Cynthia was surrounded by her bridesmaids and her mom. Everyone was full of laughter and anticipation while she got ready. The soft light coming through the windows was perfect for her bridal portraits—simple, natural, and full of joy.

Downstairs, Richard and his groomsmen were setting up the final touches for the ceremony. There was this wonderful balance of excitement and calmness in the air, the kind that often happens at destination weddings in Puerto Rico.

The Ceremony Overlooking the Rainforest in Hacienda Azucena

As guests gathered by the terrace, the view opened up to rolling green mountains and the ocean in the distance. The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt—filled with laughter, happy tears, and the kind of emotion that reminds me why I love being a wedding photographer. The couple exchanged vows just as the light began to turn golden, and every frame felt like magic.

Golden Hour Wedding Photos

After family portraits, I took Cynthia and Richard around the property for their Hacienda Azucena photos. With the sunset painting everything in warm tones, I barely had to direct them. They were so sweet and connected that I simply gave them space to enjoy the moment while I captured their joy from afar.

As the sun disappeared behind the hills, hundreds of tiny lights began to twinkle around the terrace. The night felt alive—music, laughter, and the clinking of glasses carried through the air.

A Perfect Ending to a Hacienda Azucena Celebration

The decor was simple but full of personality, with small travel-inspired details that reflected the couple’s love for adventure. Guests danced, laughed, and celebrated under the stars. It was one of those nights that felt effortless and joyful from beginning to end.

I’m so grateful to Cynthia and Richard for trusting me with these memories. Their Hacienda Azucena wedding in Puerto Rico will always remind me of the beauty of small, heartfelt celebrations surrounded by nature.
