Puerto Rico Beach Wedding Venues: A Photographer’s Guide to 19 Oceanfront Resorts and Villas
I have spent over 17 years photographing weddings across Puerto Rico. In that time I have watched couples get married on cliffs above the Atlantic, inside ballrooms with ocean views, barefoot in the sand at a private villa, and on rooftops where the entire Condado coastline spreads out behind them at dusk.
Puerto Rico has no shortage of beautiful places to get married near the water.
This guide covers 20 beach wedding venues across the island, organized by style and sorted by starting budgets. For each one I have included what kind of couple it tends to suit, a general sense of size and price, and what I personally notice every time I work there as a photographer.

Prices below are general tiers. Contact each venue's events team directly for current package pricing, as rates change seasonally.
Luxury Puerto Rico Wedding Resorts
These are the venues couples choose when the wedding itself is the destination. All offer in-house catering, full event coordination, and on-site accommodations for guests. Most book 12 to 18 months in advance for peak season, which runs November through April.
Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
DORADO | UP TO ~150 GUESTS | LUXURY
Dorado Beach is the most private wedding venue on the island. The property sits on a stretch of coast that was once a private estate, and it still feels that way. Guests stay on the grounds, ceremonies happen in open-air spaces framed by palm trees and the ocean, and the whole event feels completely removed from the outside world.
From a photography standpoint, it is one of the most forgiving venues on the island. The light is soft almost all day because of the surrounding tree canopy, the architecture is warm stone and wood rather than bright white concrete, and there are genuinely good ceremony spots that work at any time of day.
Best for: Couples who want total privacy, a small guest count, and a setting that genuinely earns the word exclusive.
I have photographed both elopements and full weddings here. The elopements tend to produce some of the most intimate images I make all year.
Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, San Juan
SAN JUAN | UP TO ~300 GUESTS | LUXURY
The Vanderbilt is a 1919 landmark hotel on the Condado coast, and it photographs like one. The ballroom has 30-foot ceilings and arched windows. Outside, the oceanfront terraces face directly west, which means sunset during a cocktail hour here can stop a conversation.
This venue suits large, formal weddings well. It has the staff and infrastructure to handle them, and the historic architecture gives a black-tie event the right backdrop. It is also well located for guests flying in, sitting close to the airport and walking distance from restaurants in Condado.
Best for: Large formal weddings; couples who want a historic architectural setting; guests who want to be in the heart of San Juan.
Four Seasons Puerto Rico (formerly St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Rio Grande)
RIO GRANDE | UP TO ~200 GUESTS | LUXURY
The Four Seasons Puerto Rico sits between El Yunque rainforest and the Atlantic, and that combination creates a setting unlike anything else on the island. The grounds are lush and quiet. The beach is sheltered. The resort feels genuinely secluded even though it is only about 45 minutes from San Juan.
Ceremonies on the beach here have a soft, almost cinematic quality. The rainforest behind the property softens the light and adds a layer of green that most coastal venues simply do not have. I have photographed proposals here as well, and the mix of water and jungle makes for unusually rich images.
Best for: Couples who want luxury without being in a city; nature-oriented couples who still want five-star service.
Royal Isabela Resort, Isabela
ISABELA | UP TO ~80 GUESTS | LUXURY
Royal Isabela sits on a limestone cliff on the northwest coast with the ocean directly below. Ceremonies here feel more dramatic than almost anywhere else on the island. The sound of waves is constant. The light in late afternoon turns golden against the stone.
It is a smaller property, which means it works best for couples who genuinely want an intimate wedding rather than a large one. The elopements I have photographed here tend to be some of the most emotionally powerful work I do.
Best for: Small weddings and elopements; couples who want dramatic natural scenery over conventional resort polish.
Upscale Beachfront Wedding Resorts
These properties offer full resort infrastructure, professional catering, and real ocean access at a somewhat lower price point than the luxury tier. They work well for larger guest counts and weekend-long celebrations.
Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve, Rio Grande
RIO GRANDE | UP TO ~400+ GUESTS | UPSCALE
The Hyatt Grand Reserve is a sprawling property near Bahia Beach with multiple ceremony and reception spaces, a long stretch of beach, and views of El Yunque in the distance. It is one of the few venues on the island that can comfortably handle a very large wedding without the event feeling crowded.
The open-air gazebo on the grounds is a popular ceremony spot and photographs beautifully. The property is also well set up for guests who want to turn it into a full vacation.
Best for: Large weddings; destination weekend celebrations; families with kids.
Ponce Hilton Golf and Casino Resort
PONCE | UP TO ~400+ GUESTS | UPSCALE
The Ponce Hilton is on Puerto Rico's south coast, which gives it a different character from the typical San Juan circuit. The south coast has calmer water, a drier climate, and a quieter pace. For large weddings where the couple wants a full resort for a weekend, this property can accommodate it.
Best for: Large celebrations; couples with ties to Ponce or the south coast; guests who want something less urban.
La Concha Resort, San Juan
SAN JUAN (CONDADO) | UP TO ~300 GUESTS | UPSCALE
La Concha is the most visually distinctive hotel in San Juan, with its curved white shell architecture and colorful interior. Weddings here tend to have a particular energy because the venue itself has personality. Couples who choose La Concha almost always want a celebration centered on dancing and movement.
The rooftop space in particular is one of my favorite reception venues in the city. The views of the Condado lagoon and coastline at night are genuinely spectacular.
Best for: Couples who love bold design and energy; receptions centered on dancing; rooftop events with city views.
Caribe Hilton, San Juan
SAN JUAN (PUERTA DE TIERRA) | UP TO ~400+ GUESTS | UPSCALE
The Caribe Hilton is one of the most recognizable hotels in Puerto Rico, and it has been hosting large celebrations since 1949. The property sits on its own peninsula between the Atlantic and San Juan Bay, with a private beach that is genuinely unusual for a city hotel. That setting gives it a sense of space and separation from the surrounding urban area that most San Juan venues cannot offer.
For large weddings where the couple wants San Juan convenience but also needs real outdoor space, this is one of the few options that delivers both. The ballrooms are expansive, the outdoor terraces face the water, and the sheer size of the property means a large guest count does not feel crowded.
Best for: Large weddings in San Juan; couples who want a private beach and waterfront outdoor space without leaving the city; guests who want easy access to both Old San Juan and Condado.
Boutique Villas and Intimate Beach Wedding Venues in Puerto Rico
These are the venues I recommend to couples who want something that feels genuinely personal. Most require a full venue buyout and work best for smaller guest counts. They tend to produce some of the most distinctive wedding photography I make all year.
Villa Montana Beach Resort, Isabela
ISABELA | UP TO ~80 GUESTS | BOUTIQUE
Villa Montana is one of my favorite venues on the island, and I have been photographing weddings here for years. The property is a collection of individual villas set in lush tropical gardens right on the beach. It does not feel like a resort in the conventional sense. It feels like someone's extraordinarily beautiful private home.
Ceremonies on the beach here are shaded by sea grape trees, the light is gentle, and the whole place has a sense of unhurried ease that is hard to find elsewhere.
For a couple who wants intimacy without sacrificing beauty, I recommend it without hesitation.
Best for: Intimate weddings and elopements; couples who want a lush, private setting away from the city.
Fusion Beach Villas, Isabela
ISABELA | ELOPEMENTS TO ~50 GUESTS | BOUTIQUE
Fusion Beach Villas is a small, modern property in Isabela with a secluded beachfront location that suits boho-inspired weddings and elopements well. The architecture is contemporary, which contrasts nicely with the natural beach surroundings. It is best for couples who want something genuinely off the beaten path.
Best for: Elopements and micro weddings; boho or minimalist aesthetics; couples who want a secluded, non-resort feel.
Villa de Zecheo, Rincon
RINCON | UP TO ~80 GUESTS | BOUTIQUE
Villa de Zecheo is a beachfront villa on the west coast with open views of the ocean and Rincon's famous sunsets. The property is elegant without being formal, which makes it a good fit for destination weddings that want the feel of a private retreat rather than a hotel event. I have photographed weddings here in both sunshine and rain and the venue holds up beautifully in both.
Best for: Couples who want a private villa feel; west coast sunset ceremonies; small groups of close friends and family.
Mid-Range Beach Wedding Venues in Puerto Rico
These venues offer genuine oceanfront settings and professional event support without the luxury price tag. Several of them are among my personal favorites to photograph.
Wyndham Grand Rio Mar, Rio Grande
RIO GRANDE | UP TO ~300 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
Rio Mar is a long-established resort on the east coast with direct beach access, a river running through the grounds, and the rainforest behind it. The setting gives real variety: you can have a ceremony on the beach, portraits in the tropical gardens, and a reception in the ballroom, all without leaving the property.
Best for: Mid-size to large weddings; couples who want variety of backdrops within one property.
Wyndham Palmas Beach and Golf Resort, Humacao
HUMACAO | UP TO ~250 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
Palmas del Mar is a gated resort community on the southeast coast with a private feel that most beachfront resorts in Puerto Rico cannot match. The beach is calm, the grounds are well-maintained, and the event spaces are designed for full wedding weekends. It is a strong choice for families who want to keep guests in one self-contained area.
Best for: Families; couples who want a self-contained resort experience; guests who want golf, beach, and water in one place.
Copamarina Beach Resort and Spa, Guanica
GUANICA | UP TO ~200 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
Copamarina is on the southwest coast near Guanica dry forest, and the setting is unlike anywhere else on the island. The water here is very calm, almost lagoon-like. The resort is surrounded by nature and the pace is genuinely slow. It is an excellent choice for couples who want a full wedding weekend where guests can relax between events.
Best for: Family-friendly weddings; couples who want calm water and a nature setting; relaxed weekend-long celebrations.
Hotel El Guajataca, Quebradillas
QUEBRADILLAS | UP TO ~100 GUESTS | BUDGET
El Guajataca sits on a cliff above the ocean in Quebradillas, with a famous stone tunnel that leads down to the water. It is dramatic, wild, and unlike any other wedding backdrop in Puerto Rico. For couples who want adventure and natural beauty over amenities and polish, this venue produces extraordinary images and is genuinely affordable compared to most other options on this list.
Best for: Couples who want dramatic natural scenery; adventure-oriented weddings; those willing to travel to the northwest coast.
Rincon Beach Resort, Anasco
WEST COAST (ANASCO) | UP TO ~150 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
Rincon Beach is on Puerto Rico's west coast, about two hours from San Juan, and that distance from the city gives it a completely different energy. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried. The beach faces west, which means late afternoon ceremonies here get some of the best sunset light on the island.
I have photographed multiple weddings here and the mood is consistently joyful. The staff is warm, the property is not oversized, and the ocean access is genuinely good. It is also a practical choice for couples with guests from the mainland who want a real beach vacation built around the wedding.
Best for: Couples who want west coast sunsets and a relaxed feel without the formality of a luxury resort.
Royal Sonesta San Juan, Isla Verde
ISLA VERDE | UP TO ~200 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
The Royal Sonesta is right on Isla Verde Beach, which is the best urban beach in the San Juan area. It combines the convenience of being close to the airport and the city with a genuinely good stretch of sand. The hotel has a sophisticated feel without the formality of the Vanderbilt.
Best for: Couples who want beachfront in the San Juan area without luxury pricing; guests who need to be close to the airport.
Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort
ISLA VERDE | UP TO ~150 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
The Courtyard Isla Verde sits on the same stretch of beach as the Royal Sonesta and offers a more casual experience. It is practical for couples whose guests are flying in since the airport is extremely close, and the beach access is genuinely good.
Best for: Couples who want beachfront in San Juan at an accessible price; guests with tight travel logistics.
Vibrant and Trendy Beach Wedding Venues
For couples who want energy, music, and a celebration that feels alive from start to finish.
Condado Ocean Club, San Juan
SAN JUAN (CONDADO) | UP TO ~120 GUESTS | MID-RANGE
The Condado Ocean Club is adults-only and has a cleaner, more design-forward aesthetic than most venues in this price range. The event space faces directly west over the ocean, which makes it one of the better sunset ceremony spots in San Juan. It works best for smaller weddings where the couple wants something modern and oceanfront without going into the luxury tier.
Best for: Adults-only intimate weddings; couples who want a modern setting and direct ocean views in Condado.
Vivo Beach Club, Carolina
CAROLINA | UP TO ~300 GUESTS | TRENDY
Vivo Beach Club is a waterfront venue in Carolina with a genuine beach-party atmosphere. The setup is open-air, the production capabilities are strong, and the venue suits couples who want a reception that feels more like a festival than a formal dinner. It is a fun venue to photograph because the energy is consistently high and the guests are almost always dancing well before the night is over.
Best for: High-energy receptions; couples who love to dance; weddings with a Caribbean festival feel.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best beach wedding venue in Puerto Rico?
There is no single answer because the best venue depends entirely on what kind of wedding you want. For total privacy and luxury, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is the standard. For a historic setting with scale, the Condado Vanderbilt. For intimacy and natural beauty, Villa Montana Beach Resort in Isabela. For dramatic scenery and a small guest count, Royal Isabela. I have worked at all of them and would recommend any one of them for the right couple.
Do Puerto Rico resorts offer all-inclusive wedding packages?
Most resorts on this list offer wedding packages that bundle venue fees, catering, and basic coordination, but true all-inclusive packages in the traditional Caribbean sense are uncommon in Puerto Rico. You will typically work with the resort's in-house catering team and build a package from there. Many resorts also have preferred vendor lists for florists, photographers, and DJs.
What are the best beach wedding venues in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico?
Isla Verde has two solid options: the Royal Sonesta San Juan and the Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort. Both sit directly on Isla Verde Beach, close to the airport, and suit couples whose guests are traveling from the mainland. The Royal Sonesta has a more sophisticated feel; the Courtyard is more casual and accessible in price.
How far in advance should I book a beach wedding venue in Puerto Rico?
For peak season (November through April), the luxury and upscale resorts book 12 to 18 months out for Saturdays. Off-peak and weekday dates are more available. Popular boutique venues like Villa Montana fill quickly for holiday weekends. If you have a specific date in mind, contact venues as early as possible.
What is the best time of year for a beach wedding in Puerto Rico?
November through April is the dry season and the most popular time for beach weddings. Temperatures are slightly cooler, humidity is lower, and the risk of rain is reduced. That said, I have photographed beautiful weddings in every month of the year here. Summer weddings often have lush, green surroundings because of the seasonal rain. Hurricane season runs June through November. While weddings happen throughout this period without incident, it is worth discussing venue contingency plans if your date falls between August and October.
Can I get married on a public beach in Puerto Rico?
Yes. Most beaches in Puerto Rico are public and you can hold a ceremony on them. In practice, couples who want a beach ceremony without booking a venue typically work with a wedding planner who handles setup, any required permits, and logistics. The tradeoff is giving up an event coordinator, catering, restrooms, and a covered backup space in case of rain.
What should I look for in a Puerto Rico beach wedding photographer?
Beyond portfolio and style, look for someone who has actually photographed at the venues you are considering. Light behaves very differently at Dorado Beach versus Villa de Zecheo versus the Condado Vanderbilt, and a photographer who knows those spaces will be better prepared on the day. Ask specifically how many weddings they have done at your venue and ask to see full galleries, not just highlight images.
